Arland Ben
Arland Bend is a Navajo from the Edgewater Clan and was originally born in Bluff, Utah in a Catholic church. He learned basic jewelry-making from his brother-in-law Vincent Platero at the age of 29, and taught himself goldsmithing techniques and the art of hand-cut overlay design. Arland is an award-winning jeweler who has received numerous awards and recognition at the Heard Museum Show as well as the Santa Fe Indian Market. The striking prehistoric art motifs featured in Arland’s work are inspired by the ancient Native drawings at Newspaper Rock in Utah.
